Comfort Engineers Construction Division is pleased to be working for Skanska USA Building Inc. on the 24,000 SQ FT expansion of the Ronald McDonald House of Durham. We are responsible for the heating and air conditioning system being installed. Spring Stoops McCullen Engineering, PA of Durham designed the systems that we are installing. We are using a Daikin VRV System alongside a Greenheck Energy Recovery Ventilator, both purchased from Hoffman & Hoffman, Inc. The Daikin system consists of 6 Condensing units, 52 Fan Coil Units, Branch Selector Boxes and what seems to be a couple miles of refrigerant piping. The Energy Recovery Ventilator is providing conditioned make up air to the guest suites and is recovering heat from the toilet exhaust. The building is a wood framed building which creates several challenges with routing, sealing and fire stopping penetrations. The schedule is for the new expansion to be ready around Mid July. Below are some pictures of the progress, check back later for more pictures.
